I have bought many crochet kits lately to occupy me during my longest ever hospital admission. This kit comes in a very close second in my rankings of the many kits I’ve bought.It comes with everything you need and makes the cutest little friends. There are a couple more elements than more basic kits, which can make it a little more challenging, and the yarn is a a little thinner than some other kits suitable for beginners, but still high quality. I just mention this as chunkier yarn is much easier to work with for a novice, and this was the second kit I’ve ever been able to do so that speaks to my level of (in-)ability and the clarity of the instructions. For a total novice I’d maybe recommend trying a simpler kit first to build confidence and learn stitch types on a chunkier yarn, as I found the skills I learned from a kit that was a bit simpler but had very very detailed instructions really helped me succeed at this one. I think you’d still be able to complete this kit if you hadn’t done any others previously though. It just might feel a bit more challenging. Still perfect for beginners, like I said could be a bit more difficult for a complete novice but still doable thanks to the videos.Instructions:The instructions are good and very clear. You can either follow the pattern or scan the QR codes and watch helpful videos that walk you through each step from beginning to end. Each animal has its own little leaflet with a beautiful photo of the finished design on the front, and the pattern written out. By far the most aesthetically pleasing instruction leaflets I’ve encountered in any of the other 7 kits I’ve recently bought (I’ve become addicted. It’s an actual problem).Quality: this is very high quality and comes in lovely packaging. I found the thickness of the yarn to be just right for me as I’d built a bit of confidence having created two little friends with chunkier yarn previously, which allowed me to get used to the different stitches.Supplies: absolutely everything you could think to need. More than enough yarn, which takes away the pressure of having to do things exactly right. There’s enough that you can mess up and try again. But if you don’t mess up I think you could probably actually make 2 of each little friends.End result: nobody could believe that two days prior to this kit I’d never crocheted before. Even I couldn’t believe I’d made it! Crochet seems so daunting. There were bits of the design I struggled with, but having a few more complex elements made for a fun challenge, and I was able to problem solve. Is it perfect? No. But is is the result still adorable? Absolutely! The first kit I tried, and the first thing I’d ever crocheted, had a result that looked exactly like the image on the box. But this was still lovely.Overall a lovely kit. Great to follow for those fairly new to crocheting. The box is high quality and the instruction leaflets are beautiful and have links to videos which walk you through the steps for each animal you’ve chosen. The end result is really high quality, and so cute. The colour choices are lovely, and I really liked the way it looked with the thickness of yarn they include. I will absolutely be buying many more kits from this brand, especially having tried several from its competitors and being able to gauge where this stands among its competitors. Really worth the price, and perfect for a gift, or to make to give to someone as a gift. They’re a lovely size and really cute. Absolutely recommend.

Bought this for my partner and she enjoyed making this. However it was a bit disappointing when she got to the highland cow's hat and found that there was no white yarn in the kit.

EXCELLENT!I am a complete beginner but this set was so easy to follow. It contains a link for videos to follow and handy picture instructions catering for all types of learners.Had an issue with some yarn and their customer service was excellent.Overall - great quality and value for money.

I’ve been a crocheter for many years, fortunately it is a skill that came to me quite naturally so i know that the technique used to make the toys in this crochet kit is called amigurumi which if is something you can master as a beginner then you are lucky. It’s not impossible and the stitch used is one of the most easiest ones so at best, i would class this kit more ideal to improving beginners because amigurumi is quite fiddly, stitching is worked quite tight and evenly then there is all the general crochet technique, stitches and counting to get used to as well.Aside from the classification, this kit is pretty good. You are supplied with all the materials, instructions and equipment to make a charming little bee soft toy. There is enough yarn supplied (i believe polyester tube fabric yarn) which isn’t that easy to work with, i believe the gauge is about aran/worsted (no information) and all different colours are supplied to make all the required detailed elements. The hook provided is 3.5mm which is probably the smallest i would go for this gauge yarn, it is important to use the smallest hook possible for the yarn when working this type of crochet to get the tight finish.Unfortunately I didn’t find this yarn and hook the best combination to work with. Whilst the yarn is not plied and doesn’t split, it doesn’t glide well and i also feel is too thick for the hook supplied.2 sets of instructions are supplied, one is for crochet basics and the other is the pattern. It should be noted that the terminology used is US terms but is what i use anyway. The pattern also include QR links to online tutorials which are clear and helpful. There are some eye details and some wire for the bee antennae included, the toy safety eyes require push on backs which are included but because of small parts the finished toy may not be suitable for younger children.All in all, a good kit, well put together and presented, could be a decent gift solution for someone who can already crochet or wants to improve and/or make amigurumi toys. The pattern could be kept and reused to make more toys if you have more yarn and safety eyes. No value (at the time of review) is would price it around no more than £10-12, the kit is fairly comprehensive to make the toy and would be well received by those new or nearly new to crochet.
