El libro consta de una excelente selección de temas musicales de películas, con un buen tamaño de pentagrama y tablatura para una fácil lectura, así como la letra con los acordes de acompañamiento de las mismas canciones. Excelente producto, altamente recomendable.

For starters, Fred Sokolow is upfront about his intention for this collection- to be played best as solo instrumental pieces on a re-entrant (high G) ukulele. I am an advanced beginner/early intermediate player, and my favorite ukulele is concert sized. I read music notation, TABs, and chord diagrams fairly well, so bought the collection to get all those juicy details, and particularly the melodies. He’s also included lead sheets for those who don’t read music or just want to strum with simpler chords.At first glance, a number of the songs might seem a bit daunting for anyone who limits their playing to just a couple of sharps or flats and playing only near the top of the fretboard. Sokolow has an amazing talent, though, for arranging the chords, whatever the key, so that just by moving a finger or two, your hand is already positioned to play a surprising variety of colorful chords and melody lines within reach wherever you are. I found it cool to learn new chords this way so easily. “Speak Softly, Love” (pp. 74-75) is a good song to try out first.It’s also a good idea to first forget the lyrics and TABs and just play the chord diagrams above the staff until you can play them smoothly and easily. Be patient with yourself and actually practice. THEN add the fancy bits by reading the TABs and shaping the instrumental solo.My favorite song is included (“Remember Me” from Coco, pp. 62-63), and on that one I really did want to sing the vocals as well. Since Sokolow has painstakingly already done the work of making the hard bits easier and laying out a toolbox of elements to use, I had fun mixing vocals, strums, picking, and plucking that suited me best.So, anyway, use whatever works for you in this vast collection. Some songs are still too hard for me, but there’s always hope that as I learn with the simpler ones, eventually I’ll enjoy playing the harder ones, too. I have small hands, so it might be easier for me to play those on a soprano size ukulele.
