I’ve got a few old garden tractors I like playing with but my current favorite is an early 80s John Deere. It’s mechanically original right down to the Kohler KT-17 series 2 engine. I did recently revamp the ignition system to a crank trigger system and it works great. I use this tractor a lot in keeping up my property and really wanted a tachometer in it. I saw this and reading the description felt like it could work, and it did. I’m very happy with it. Due to the ignition workings of an opposed twin engine I had to scroll through the different settings but I did find one that works and it seems to be very accurate. I think every piece of equipment should come with one of these. The hour meter is also a handy feature for keeping up with maintenance on the machine. I recommend it and wish I’d found it sooner.

What a roller coaster this has been. I first ordered two RL-HM032-BTs. I couldn't get either of the meters to connect. The app would recognize the meters and indicate they were ready to use, but when the app tried to connect, it failed. I am using a Samsung Galaxy S22+. I spent several days trying to determine what was preventing the meters from connecting, without success (including trying another phone - a tablet actually - a Samsung Tab S7+) with no luck. I returned the RL-HM032-BTs. Runleader seems to have a monopoly on these type devices. I was unable to find a suitable substitute on the web that wasn't a Runleader. In desperation, I decided to order the RL-HM058-BTs. I had almost exactly the same experience with these, with one exception, the bluetooth icon on the meter went out when I rebooted my phone. When the phone restarted, I went back into the app and called up the meter. IT CONNECTED!!!!! Unfortunately, when I backed out and tried to connect to the meter again, it failed. A phone reboot allowed the meter to connect again. I suspect there is an issue with the meter's bluetooth interface relative to Samsung's implementation of bluetooth. I may try a friend's phone (not Samsung) to see if that changes anything. Net, net, if you have a current Samsung Galaxy device you plan on using for this, beware!

I was super excited to have a bluetooth tach for my outboard. I wanted to mount it near the motor and use my phone to monitor RPM at the helm. Unfortunately, the app requires you to create an account in order to use any of its functions.Ridiculous that almost everybody wants you to create a user account for even the most basic app functionalities.I'm only giving two stars because the instructions are very lacking and I'm not creating yet another account so I can install and configure a tachometer.

The directions for this pretty much just show how to mount it with velcro, screws, etc. The configuration was not hard despite being limited directions. The clock seems to set but then just goes back to default, date seems to keep though, there is a setting for different alarms, RPM ranges, cylinder counts, etc. The calendar set was the hardest to figure out as shown like 1P1S or something similar I just messed with it until I got a setting that made sense for the engine I had. I am assuming 1p is one piston the second part I had no idea. If goes over RPM the screen turns red.The directions also did not say how to wire this in to wire in to be always on or to a switched connection. I was having trouble finding two connections so I just tapped off the always-on lead of the starter relay. and found a screw on the frame for the ground. The yellow wire i figured is probably a pickup so ran to the coil wire and wound it around a time or two and put a knot at the end.
