It feels like a conversation between musicians analyzing what jazz legends have created, things any budding musician already knows!It seems that the author does not belong to the class of jazz musicians.

I took this book to several people with doctorates in music and we all agree this book is over explained making it inaccessible. Take for example this portion in an early paragraph (see picture). While I get what they are saying there was/is a simple way to explain this simple concept. this makes the book especially hard to read.

It's one thing to identify a technique and play an example.It's another thing to identify a technique. Play an example and explain where the technique is used. Most of the book is telling you of all these wonderful things you can do but not really showing how to. I'm left to listening to the tracts and wondering...what did I miss?!Dave book explains a lot and gives clear practical ways I can use the taught material.... in my humble opinion
